       Kashmiri Shawl Sellers Attacked in Mussoorie, Police Arrest Three Suspects”: SRINAGAR: Two Kashmiri shawl vendors were allegedly slapped and abused by a group of local men in Mussoorie and forced to shut their business, a video widely circulated on social media has revealed. According to media reports, the incident took place earlier this week and led to the arrest of three individuals.

The video shows the vendors being repeatedly slapped and verbally abused by three men, including one identified as the group’s leader. The assault reportedly continued even after one of the victims produced an Aadhaar card showing his Jammu and Kashmir origin, media outlets said.

Director General of Police Deepam Seth confirmed the arrest of the accused, identified as Suraj Singh (Post Kempty, Tehri Garhwal), Pradeep Singh (Hathipaon, Mussoorie), and Abhishek Uniyal (Company Garden, Mussoorie). Legal proceedings have been initiated under the Police Act.

According to Nasir Khuehami, national convenor of the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association, the attackers were affiliated with the Bajrang Dal. “We received disturbing reports that two Kashmiri shawl sellers were brutally assaulted, and at least 16 other Kashmiri traders, mostly from Kupwara district, were threatened, harassed, and forced to leave their rented accommodations,” he said, citing first-hand testimonies.

Khuehami said the traders had been peacefully residing and conducting business in Mussoorie for years, contributing to the local economy. He added that the three accused later apologised for their actions and assured that they would not repeat such behaviour.He also confirmed that around 16 Kashmiri vendors have now returned to the Kashmir valley following the incident, citing growing fear and insecurity among them.kashmir life.
