Mutton Rates Set in Jammu & Kashmir, Bringing Clarity to Pricing

Srinagar, June 13: The Mutton Dealers Union of Jammu and Kashmir has clarified that there is no confusion regarding mutton rates in the region. The price for mutton with Offal has been fixed at Rs 600 per kilogram, while mutton without Offal will be sold at Rs 650 per kilogram.

Hilal Ahmed, the General Secretary of the All Jammu and Kashmir Butchers Union, stated that the recent notification issued by the central government has been instrumental in regulating mutton prices in the market. He highlighted that they had raised concerns with the Division Commissioner of Kashmir a few months ago about the high cost of mutton sourced from Delhi. Ahmed emphasized their commitment to maintaining stable prices and urged the public to boycott any sellers offering mutton at higher rates than the fixed prices.

In response to the situation, an official from the Department of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs (CAPD) clarified that they currently do not have instructions to regulate the prices of mutton and other livestock products.

Prior to the recent notification, the government-approved price for mutton in Jammu and Kashmir was Rs 535 per kilogram.

Qouting by KNO,Overall, the fixed rates of mutton aim to bring clarity and ensure fair pricing for consumers in Jammu and Kashmir.
