According to the Director of Tribal Affairs, the department has received over 30,000 applications under various scholarship schemes for the current academic year, marking an increase of more than 120 percent compared to 2023–24. The verification and course-wise grouping process involving around 670 educational institutions has been completed.

The official said that all eligible students will receive their scholarship amounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode, in line with procedural guidelines issued by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India. Disbursement will begin immediately after the course master vetting is completed by the Ministry.

The department said the application and disbursement process is being carried out on a war footing. Measures have been taken to reduce release time and ensure timely benefit delivery. The department is also working to improve transparency and strengthen monitoring mechanisms.

Responding to reports on social media alleging delays in the process, the Director clarified that the disbursement is in its final stages and all concerned officers have been directed to ensure timely payment to eligible beneficiaries.

The department further stated that Tribal Affairs Minister Javed Ahmed Rana has issued clear instructions to ensure no eligible ST student is denied scholarship benefits due to delays or administrative issues.source kashmir life .
