Caution Issued for June 2: Thunder, Lightning & Strong Winds
The MeT Centre in Srinagar had earlier issued a cautionary advisory for June 2, warning of thunder, lightning, and gusty winds—especially during the late afternoon and evening hours. Residents were urged to stay indoors and avoid areas near electric poles, loose structures, hanging wires, and old trees to ensure safety.
Flash Flood Warning for Vulnerable Areas
Dr. Mukhtar further cautioned that intense rainfall in some isolated pockets could result in localized flash floods. People living in vulnerable or low-lying areas have been advised to remain alert and avoid venturing into risky zones during the period of instability.
The Meteorological Department has appealed to the public to take necessary precautions and adhere to safety measures to avoid any untoward incidents during this brief spell of adverse weather.
