Non-Local Worker Drowns in Jhelum River, South Kashmir: SRINAGAR: A non-local labourer drowned in the river Jhelum at Patalbagh area of Pampore in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday.An official said the deceased has been identified as Nami Sahani (45), son of Sarjo Sahani, a resident of Bihar, who was working as a sand labourer in the area.

Soon after the incident, a police team led by the SHO Pampore reached the spot and launched a rescue operation.
The body was retrieved from the river and shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Pampore for medico-legal formalities, the official said.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated further investigation. (JKNS)
