South Kashmir Crackdown: Drug Peddler Caught with Heroin Worth Lakhs: SRINAGAR: Police in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday arrested a suspected drug peddler and recovered a large quantity of a heroin-like substance valued in lakhs of rupees as part of its ongoing crackdown on narcotics trafficking.

Acting on specific intelligence, a police team from Police Station Kulgam, accompanied by an Executive Magistrate, raided a suspected location in the village of Arreh near Islamia Hanfia Institute. During the operation, one individual was apprehended, and 471 grams of heroin-like substance were recovered from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Irfan Ahmad Raina, son of Mushtaq Ahmad, a resident of Arreh, Kulgam. He has been taken into custody and remains detained at the local police station.Police have registered a case under FIR No. 34/2025 under relevant provisions of the law, and further investigation is currently underway.kashmir life.
