Who is Eligible?

The scholarship is open to girl students who have completed Class 10 and 12 from government schools and have secured admission into a bona fide higher education institution (HEI). This includes all government HEIs and selected private institutions.

Scholarship Benefits

  • ₹30,000 per year will be awarded for the entire duration of the college/university program.
  • The scholarship covers additional educational expenses such as books, commute, clothing, and other essentials.
  • No entrance exam, income proof, or special eligibility checks are required.

“We are not conducting any exams or checking the financial backgrounds. Over 90% of students in government schools already come from disadvantaged families,” said Anurag Behar, CEO of the Azim Premji Foundation.

Why This Matters

While girls’ enrollment in primary education is nearly equal to boys, their numbers drop significantly in higher education due to financial and logistical challenges. This scholarship aims to bridge that gap by making higher education more accessible for girls.

Pilot Success and Expansion

In 2024–25, the foundation conducted a successful pilot program in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Jharkhand, benefitting over 25,000 girl students. Encouraged by its success, the program is now expanded to 18 states, including:

  • Arunachal Pradesh
  • Assam
  • Bihar
  • Karnataka
  • Telangana
  • Tripura
  • Odisha
  • Mizoram, among others

Application Details

  • Application Start Date: September 2025

A Historic Commitment

This scholarship is part of a ₹2,250 crore commitment over the next three years and is expected to grow further to include more regions across the country.
