SRINAGAR: In a tragic incident on the eve of Eid-ul-Adha, a minor girl slipped to her death in a pit in Putshay village, North Kashmir’s Bandipora district, on Monday evening.
An official said the incident took place when the minor girl had gone to the premises of Hassan Shah Khuehami Memorial (HKM) Degree College at Patushay, Bandipora, to enjoy Eid day, where she slipped into the pit.
Following the incident, she was rescued and taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The deceased has been identified as Arwa Ayaz, daughter of Ayaz Ahmad Mir, a resident of Patushay, Bandipora.

Meanwhile, locals blamed the college administration for neglecting to cover the water gorge for years, citing it as a clear case of negligence, and demanded swift action.
“Even if they had locked the college gate today, this incident wouldn’t have happened,” added the locals.
The locals said that several minor children went to the college premises today to enjoy Eid, as the area lacks even a small tourist destination.
