Film Industry Should Explore Kashmir’s Offbeat Locations: Bollywood Director Bhandarkar

SRINAGAR: Bollywood director Madhur Bhandarkar on Thursday said that Kashmir is ideal for film shooting and urged the Tourism Department to explore offbeat and unexplored locations to further boost the industry.

Addressing the JK Film Conclave at the International Convention Centre on the banks of Dal Lake, Bhandarkar, expressed his honour at being part of the event. “I have been visiting Kashmir frequently for the past 17 years, sometimes twice a year. I have many friends here. The food and locations are amazing. The policies introduced by the JK Administration to promote film shooting are commendable. The locations here are breathtaking, and I urge the Tourism Department to explore the unexplored offbeat locations for film shooting,” he said.

Bhandarkar said that today’s initiative would send a strong message across the Indian film industry and attract more directors and producers to Kashmir. “The single-window initiative introduced by the J&K Administration is highly appreciable. At the end of the day, we need ease in shooting, and the steps taken by the J&K Administration led by LG Manoj Sinha deserve applause,” he said.
