IMD predicts heavy rainfall in These State in India

IMD has forecast cloudy skies with moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms on Saturday, accompanied by gusty winds reaching 30 to 40 kilometres per hour. Delhi will be under an “orange” alert due to these weather conditions.

The IMD has also predicted “heavy” to “very heavy” rainfall in Delhi over the weekend. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 32 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature may dip to 25 degrees Celsius.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an ‘orange alert’ for Delhi on Sunday and Monday, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall. This follows the city’s heaviest single-day downpour in 88 years, which occurred on Friday.

Northeastern regions at risk of fresh floods

The IMD has issued warnings about a higher risk of flash floods in specific areas of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, and the NMMT met Subdivisions within the next 24 hours. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh are preparing for widespread light to moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning on Saturday. Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura will also see similar weather conditions in the coming days.

The IMD weather forecast indicates varied conditions across India for the coming days. Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are expected to receive significant rainfall on June 29th and 30th, while Punjab anticipates heavy rainfall on June 30th and July 1st. Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi are likely to experience heavy rainfall from June 29th to July 1st. Uttar Pradesh is slated for isolated very heavy rainfall between June 29th and 30th, with East Rajasthan encountering similar conditions from June 29th to July 2nd. Madhya Pradesh expects heavy rainfall on June 29th, while Odisha forecasts heavy rainfall from June 29th to 30th. Several regions including Kerala & Mahe, Lakshadweep, Coastal Karnataka, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Konkan & Goa, Gujarat State, and Madhya Maharashtra can expect widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. Marathwada, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana, and North & South Interior Karnataka are likely to experience scattered light to moderate rainfall. Chhattisgarh may encounter isolated heavy rainfall on June 29th and 30th.

After Delhi, Rajkot airport terminal’s canopy collapses amid heavy rains

In an incident similar to the tragic Delhi airport roof collapse, the canopy at the Rajkot airport terminal fell at the passenger pickup and drop area amid heavy rains on Saturday (June 29). So far, no one has been injured.

This happened just a day after one person was killed and eight others were injured after a roof at Terminal-1 of New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport collapsed amid heavy rains on Friday (June 28).
