Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Witness Severe Cold Wave
The regions of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh experienced biting cold as minimum temperatures dropped significantly across various districts. The Kashmir Valley recorded widespread sub-zero temperatures, while Ladakh remained the coldest, with extreme lows in several areas.
Kashmir Region
The cold wave in Kashmir saw Shopian emerging as the coldest spot at a freezing -10.2°C, followed by Anantnag at -8.1°C and Gulmarg at -8.8°C. Tourist destinations like Pahalgam and Sonamarg recorded minimum temperatures of -7.6°C and -7.2°C, respectively. Srinagar, the summer capital, recorded -4.4°C, while Kupwara was relatively warmer at -0.3°C.
