SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Valley experienced a sharp dip in minimum temperatures on Saturday, with several locations recording sub-zero temperatures. The Meteorological Department has predicted a cold wave in many areas over the next three days.
In Srinagar, the minimum temperature plummeted to -4.6°C, more than two degrees lower than the previous night. Gulmarg, a famous tourist destination, recorded a low of -7.6°C, showing a slight improvement compared to the night before.

Pahalgam, the base camp for the annual Amarnath Yatra, remained the coldest spot in the valley, with temperatures dropping to a chilling -8.4°C.
Other notable temperature readings include:
- Qazigund (the gateway to Kashmir): -5.6°C
- Kupwara (north Kashmir): -4.7°C
- Kokernag (south Kashmir): -4.2°C
The Met department forecasts predominantly dry weather until December 21 but warns of a further drop in minimum temperatures across the valley, resulting in cold wave conditions at many stations in the coming days.
