“Khelo India Beach Games 2025: Jammu & Kashmir Wins 9 Medals” : SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir recorded one of its finest showings at a national-level sporting event by clinching nine medals, including five gold, at the Khelo India Beach Games 2025, finishing 4th overall among 30 participating States and Union Territories.

The performance was lauded by Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, who praised the contingent’s “dedication to nurturing talent and sporting excellence” during the closing ceremony at the INS Khukri Memorial, Diu.
Held at Ghoghla Beach, the multi-sport event featured over 1,350 athletes competing in disciplines like beach volleyball, soccer, sepaktakraw, kabaddi, pencak silat, and open water swimming.
J&K athletes emerged champions in the men’s pencak silat category and secured third in the women’s, helping propel the UT to the upper echelons of the national rankings.
Gold medals were won by Saaliq Farooq, Adeeba Gulzar, Muskan Shaban, Sajad Beigh and Tawzeeh Mujeeb. Jibran Masood secured silver, while Ravees Ahmad, Ruqaya Manzoor, and Sarfaraz Ali earned bronze. The beach volleyball team also excelled, defeating Chhattisgarh and hosts Dadra and Nagar Haveli & Daman and Diu.
The J&K Sports Council sponsored the contingent, which was led by the Divisional Sports Officer. J&K Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, congratulated the athletes, calling them “a testament to the region’s rising sporting capabilities.”
Secretary Sarmad Hafeez and J&K Sports Council Secretary Nuzhat Gul also commended the achievement, reaffirming the UT government’s commitment to building a culture of sports through improved infrastructure and continuous training.kashmir life .
