SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced a power shutdown schedule across various areas of the Kashmir Valley from June 21 to June 30, 2025. The shutdowns are being implemented to facilitate branch cutting, erection of ST poles, stabilisation works, and preparatory measures for the upcoming holy month of Muharram and the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) 2025.

According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, the shutdowns are necessary to carry out pruning of trees alongside critical 33KV transmission lines and to complete infrastructure upgrades essential for maintaining an uninterrupted power supply during the peak pilgrimage and religious season.
On June 21, shutdowns will affect the 33KV Badampora-Kurhama Dab line, resulting in the disconnection of power to Kurhama, Youngpora, Barsoo Old, Dab, Checki Baba, Salun, Sainik School, Rabitar, Kondbal, and GCET Safapora from 10:00 AM to 04:00 PM. Similarly, the 33KV HMT Shadipora line will remain shut on June 21 and again on June 24, affecting Shadipora, Trigam, Mirgund, Sumbal, Ankul, Gund Boon, and nearby areas.
In Budgam, several 33KV lines including Budgam-Kremshore, Budgam-Ichgam, and Budgam-Waterhail will also be shut on June 21 between 10:00 AM and 05:00 PM to facilitate pole erection and stabilisation works. Areas affected include Old Kremshore, Khansahib, Raithan, Ichgam, Choon, Kanir, Hanjura, Waterhail, Parisabad, Charangam, and surrounding villages.
Shutdowns of the 33KV Nehalpora–Markundal line have been scheduled for June 23, while the Kangan-Surfraw line will remain off on June 21 and June 23, impacting Surfraw, Gagangeer, Gund, Kullan, Sonamarg, and other areas. On June 24 and June 26, power supply will be affected in areas served by the Kangan–Kangan and Kangan–Wussan lines including Wangath, Mammer, Akhal, Preng, and Haripora.
In Srinagar, to facilitate the stabilisation of feeders connected with the Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) at Ali Jan Road, shutdowns of the 33KV Shahr-e-Khaas Pora and Kawadara Mughal Masjid lines will be observed on June 24, June 28, and June 30 from 10:00 AM to 06:00 PM. This will affect power supply in Jamalatta, Nawabazar, Zaina Kadal, Nowhatta, MR Gunj, Zadibal, Kaksarai, and adjacent areas.
Additional shutdowns will also be observed on June 21 and June 24 along the Qazigund–Kund line to ensure reliable power for SANJY 2025, affecting Chowgam, Kund, and nearby villages. Likewise, power will remain off on June 21, 23, and 25 along the Mattan–Pahalgam line impacting regions like Salia, Hutmurrah, Aishmuqam, Batkoot, Seer, and Pahalgam.
In a separate order, the Chief Engineer has also announced shutdown of the 33KV Wanganpora–Takanwari line on June 21 from 08:00 AM to 01:00 PM to enable felling of a large poplar tree near Aiwa Bridge.
KPDCL has advised residents of the affected areas to plan accordingly and has expressed regret for the inconvenience.
