SRINAGAR: A passenger died while another suffered injuries after falling off the roof of a private bus in Qaziabad area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district, officials said here on Thursday.

Local sources said that due to the overload, various passengers, mostly labourers had occupied the roof of the bus.
They said while deboarding from the bus near Palapora, two passengers slipped and fell off, receiving critical injuries.

The duo has been identified as Sahil Ahmad Teli (25) son of Ghulam Ahmad Teli of Mandigam and Ubaid Bashir Bhat (23) son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Badrah Payeen. Among them, Sahil Ahmed was referred to SKIMS where he succumbed to his injuries.
A police official said that both the victims are labourers. “We have registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law,” the official said. (KNT)
