Met forecast Rain at scattered places in Jammu and Kashmir next 24 hours.

SRINAGAR: The weather department in Srinagar has forecasted a cooler day on Tuesday with the possibility of rain at scattered places in Jammu and Kashmir over the next 24 hours.

According to an official from the meteorological department, “Generally cloudy weather with light to moderate rain is expected in Jammu & Kashmir. Today will be a cooler day.”

The official further stated that on July 5, intermittent light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are likely to occur at many places in J&K.

From July 6-8, intermittent light to moderate rain is expected at many places in J&K. He added, “Some places in the plains of the Jammu region may experience moderate to heavy spells during the morning hours.”

Regarding the minimum temperature, the official mentioned that Srinagar recorded a low of 17.8°C, which was 0.7°C above normal for the summer capital, compared to 19.0°C on the previous night.

Qazigund, the gateway town of the Kashmir Valley, recorded a low of 17.8°C, which was 2.3°C above normal, while Pahalgam, the famous tourist resort in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, recorded a low of 10.3°C, which was 0.5°C below normal.

In Kupwara town, the mercury settled at 16.0°C, above normal by 0.5°C for the north Kashmir area, while Kokernag recorded a low of 15.2°C, which was 0.3°C above normal.

Gulmarg, the world-famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, recorded a low of 11.8°C, 0.9°C above normal.

In Jammu, the winter capital of J&K, the low temperature was 26.7°C, 1.1°C above normal.

Banihal recorded a low of 16.8°C (0.5°C above normal), Batote 18.5°C (1.0°C above normal), Katra 19.6°C (2.4°C below normal), and Bhaderwah 17.9°C (1.9°C above normal), the official added.
