Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Health, Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education, Sakeena Itoo, chaired a high-level meeting to assess the performance and functioning of the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE). The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Education and Chairman JKBOSE, Shantamanu; Directors of School Education for Jammu and Kashmir, Special Secretary of the School Education Department, Secretary JKBOSE, and other key officials.

Strengthening JKBOSE Operations and Technological Integration

During the review, Minister Sakeena Itoo examined various operational aspects, including examination processes, curriculum implementation, and technological advancements within the board. She stressed the importance of modernizing the board’s infrastructure and streamlining administrative mechanisms to ensure efficient academic operations. She further urged JKBOSE to adopt advanced technological solutions for enhanced accessibility and efficiency in the board’s functioning.

Timely Results and Academic Progression

To avoid any academic disruptions, the Minister directed JKBOSE officials to ensure that results for the 10th, 11th, and 12th classes are declared by the end of this month. This would facilitate a smooth transition for students into their next academic levels without delays.

Holistic Development of the Education Sector

Highlighting the need for a comprehensive and student-friendly educational framework, Sakeena Itoo emphasized continuous stakeholder engagement and proactive measures to improve academic standards in Jammu and Kashmir. She urged both Directors of School Education to collaborate closely with JKBOSE for the holistic development of the region’s education sector.

Inclusive Education for Specially-Abled Students

A key focus of the meeting was the promotion of equitable and inclusive education for Divyang students and Children With Special Needs (CWSN). The Minister directed JKBOSE and school authorities to maximize awareness among these students regarding the benefits and support available to them.

Special provisions include:

  • Flexibility in academics and assessments
  • Exemption from examination fees for students with 40% or more permanent disability
  • A 5% relaxation in pass percentage for board examinations (10th to 12th grade)

To ensure these benefits reach the intended beneficiaries, the Minister instructed officials to conduct regular awareness programs, involving Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and mass media tools for widespread outreach.

Commitment to Educational Excellence

During the meeting, Secretary JKBOSE delivered a comprehensive presentation on the board’s functioning and recent IT interventions introduced for student facilitation. Minister Sakeena Itoo reaffirmed the government’s commitment to educational excellence and inclusive policies, ensuring that all students, regardless of their circumstances, have access to quality education and growth opportunities in Jammu and Kashmir.
