Sher-i-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology (SKUAST), Kashmir has announced openings for Professor-cum-Chief Scientist (Pay Level-14: ₹1,44,200 – ₹2,18,200) across various Faculties, Colleges, and Research Stations. The University is seeking exceptionally bright and motivated Indian nationals with a proven track record in research, teaching, and outreach activities.

These positions are meant for professionals capable of providing academic leadership, securing extramural funding, mentoring students, driving innovation, and developing technologies with commercialization potential.

Essential Eligibility Criteria

  1. Educational Qualification:
    • Ph.D. in the concerned discipline.
    • At least 10 research publications in NAAS-rated, peer-reviewed, or UGC-listed journals.
    • Minimum Academic/Research/Extension Score of 120 (as per Annexure of notification).
  2. Experience:
    • Minimum 10 years of teaching/research/extension experience at University/National level institutions.
    • Evidence of successfully guiding at least 1 Ph.D. scholar or 5 postgraduate students.
  3. Selection Weightage:
    • Academic/Research/Extension Score: 80%
    • Interview Performance: 20%
    • Candidates may be asked to deliver a seminar/lecture during the selection process.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge: Strong subject expertise with contributions to state/national agricultural challenges.
  • Communication: Inspiring faculty and students towards advanced research careers.
  • Teaching Excellence: Designing new courses, mentoring students, and guiding curriculum development.
  • Research Leadership: Proven ability in conducting research, developing protocols, securing patents, and technology transfer.
  • Scholarly Output: Widely published with high citations (preferred H-index >15, i-10 index >25).
  • Institutional Growth: Policy development, institutional representation, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Expected Deliverables

  • Teaching: Develop world-class academic programs and mentor faculty/students.
  • Research: Lead policy-driven, translational research and commercialization in hi-tech agriculture.
  • Research Management: Guide research teams, resources, and specialized crop/commodity research.
  • Outreach: Build strong networks with stakeholders for innovative, multi-disciplinary solutions.
  • Funding: Mobilize extramural funds and lead mega-grant proposals.
  • Institutional Development: Contribute to policy frameworks, publications, and represent SKUAST globally.

  • Age Limit: 22–55 years as of 01.01.2025 (relaxable for SKUAST-K employees).
