SRINAGAR: Budgam Police have seized 45 vehicles involved in illegal mining and registered 14 FIRs between February and March 2025 as part of an intensified crackdown on unlawful excavation and mineral transportation.

The seized vehicles include 27 tippers, 16 tractors, and two JCBs from multiple areas, including Bonhama, Qumroo, Chadoora, Badran, Magam, Hard Panzoo, and Narbal. Authorities have also imposed heavy fines on those engaged in illegal mining, police said.
The drive, carried out in coordination with the Department of Geology and Mining, aims to curb illegal activities and protect the district’s environmental integrity.
