Government to Crack Down on Private Schools Using Unapproved Textbooks

SRINAGAR: Following the uproar regarding the purchase of textbooks other than those prescribed by JKBOSE, the Minister of Education, Sakina Itoo, stated that the government will take swift action against private schools found guilty.

The minister said, “The complaints from parents will receive prompt attention. If any school is found guilty, we will ensure that action is taken the very next day.”

“We have already constituted zonal and district-level committees to monitor violations by private schools,” she added.

Regarding the sale of textbooks by private schools within their institutions, the education minister had previously stated that the government has set up district and zonal level committees. “They have been tasked with monitoring violations so that appropriate action can be taken against the schools involved.”

As per sources, the government is considering cancelling the recognition of any private school found guilty after receiving complaints.

“If any private school is found guilty of selling or promoting non-recommended textbooks, it will face de-recognition the very next day,” sources said.
