Imran Khan’s Arrest Deemed “Unlawful” by Pakistan Supreme Court, Orders Immediate Release
The Pakistan Supreme Court has ordered the immediate release of Imran Khan, former Prime Minister and Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), after terming his arrest in the Al-Qadir Trust Case as “unlawful.”
Khan was arrested outside the Islamabad High Court and sent to the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) custody for eight days in connection with the land deal case of Al-Qadir Trust, and was also indicted in the Toshakhana corruption case by a court in Pakistan.
In the meantime, the Supreme Court of Pakistan criticized the NAB for its manner of arresting Khan and stated that “National Accountability Bureau has disrespected the court.”
