SRINAGAR: A sand miner lost his life while excavating sand from the Jhelum River in the Hajibal area of Kakapora in South Kashmir, on Thursday.

Officials said that the incident occurred in the early hours when the miner, identified as Raqib Ahmad, son of Mohammad Ismail Dar, a resident of Hajibal, who is currently residing in Lethpora, Kakapora, Pulwama, drowned during sand excavation.
Despite rescue efforts, his life could not be saved.
Meanwhile, authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. (JKNS)
