World Heart Day was celebrated for the first time in 2000 on September 24. World Heart Federation and World Health Organization jointly founded this special day. Antoine Bayes de Luna, who was president of the World Heart Federation from 1997 to 1999, is credited with introducing the idea of ββHeart Day to the world.
